ST MARYS ROAD TRIP | 2023

A group of our members embarked on a road trip to St. Marys.  We began the day with a visit to the Station Gallery to view the work of Maaike Roosendaal. The exhibit of Creative Digital Portraiture, running until October 14, 2023 was whimsical, mysterious and bold.  The headdresses on display develop into the characters represented in the photographs.  An interesting and uncommon process for a growing medium.
 
An excellent lunch followed at the St. Marys Golf Course restaurant, Social Thirty-One.
 
Our afternoon stop was the Stonetown Arts studio where we had the pleasure of a demonstration in encaustic painting technique with Anna Koot. Such a delight it was to watch the layers of wax and pigment come together in an image both muted and sharp as though viewed through diffuse light.  Two individuals had the opportunity to try their hand. 
 
An enjoyable day immersed in art.
